Reconnection through the sacred bond of family.

Animals speak to us constantly, but they do not use words.

If you are a horse or pet owner who senses that something feels unsettled within your animal or your relationship, you are not alone. Walking Realms is an energy based wellness space created to explore that connection with care.

This work is relational. It considers the bond between animal and caregiver, the emotional tone of the environment, the energy held within a herd or home, and the ways people and animals may respond to one another.

I become a safe place for caregivers to feel seen and supported so they can approach their animals with greater presence, curiosity, and confidence.

Approach

The heart behind Walking Realms.

My relationship with animals began on a farm surrounded by alpacas, sheep, goats, chickens, horses, and cows.

In 2021, I experienced a profound spiritual awakening that led me to the energy work I now call Wesomily. Wesomily means we are all family. It is a gentle reminder that connection can deepen when we remember the sacred relationships that shape our lives.

My spiritual work has been influenced by the ideas of Dolores Cannon, Brian Weiss, and Bradley Nelson. Over time, Wesomily became a personal energy practice rooted in connection, reflection, and family.

After years of offering this work to people, horses called me more deeply into herd support in late 2025. Following a sudden and tragic loss within a horse community, I was called to support both the surviving horses and the people who loved them. Since then, Walking Realms has grown into a space for animal caregivers seeking deeper understanding, relational support, and meaningful connection.

Animals as sentient partners

At Walking Realms, animals are never treated as objects, tools, or problems to be solved. Their comfort, consent, pace, boundaries, and wellbeing matter. Sessions are shaped around what feels respectful and appropriate for the animal. No animal is expected to perform, interact, or participate beyond their comfort.

Understanding the practice

What is Walking Realms?

Walking Realms is the animal centred wellness offering at Somatic Tones, serving barns, farms, and homes in Tillsonburg, Oxford County, Elgin County, and across Southwestern Ontario.

At its heart is Animal Reiki, a quiet form of energy work offered near a horse, dog, cat, or other animal. The animal is never restrained and never asked to perform. They are free to approach, turn away, doze, graze, or wander off, and every one of those responses is information worth listening to.

Alongside the energy work sit reflective offerings such as herd insight, aura images, energetic biomechanics observation, soul connection exploration, and animal communication coordinated with Lisa Burwell. Each one is a way of paying closer attention to an animal and to the person who cares for them.

Walking Realms is holistic wellness and relationship support. It is not veterinary care, not diagnosis, and not training. It sits alongside your veterinarian, farrier, coach, and trainer rather than replacing any of them.

Where sessions can happen

  • At your barn, farm, paddock, or home
  • In a familiar field where the herd already relaxes
  • At shows, clinics, and schooling days through event wellness support
  • Remotely, when travel or distance makes visiting difficult
What happens during a session

How a visit with your animal unfolds.

Sessions follow the animal rather than a script. Even so, most visits move through a familiar rhythm.

  1. Step 01

    Arriving quietly

I arrive without hurry and give the animal time to notice me. Nothing begins until the environment feels settled. For a nervous animal that first stretch can be most of the value.

  2. Step 02

    Listening to you first

We talk about what you have been noticing. Changes in the herd, a recent move, a healing injury, a new routine, or simply a feeling that something is off. Your observations shape the whole visit.

  3. Step 03

    The environment

Work usually happens in the animal's own space. Stall, paddock, pasture, living room floor. Familiar ground helps them relax and lets me see the relationships and habits that live in that place.

  4. Step 04

    Offering the energy work

I settle nearby and begin offering Reiki, often from a distance at first. Hands may rest lightly if the animal invites it. The animal chooses the closeness and can end their part at any moment.

  5. Step 05

    What often shows up

Many animals lick, chew, yawn, lower the head, release a long breath, or lie down. Some stand quietly the whole time. Herd mates often drift in. Sometimes the person present feels their own shoulders drop.

  6. Step 06

    Closing and reflecting

The session closes gently, and we talk through what was noticed and what it might mean for daily life. You may receive simple suggestions for rest, routine, or observation before the next visit.

Every animal responds differently and no outcome, insight, or interpretation is guaranteed. Consent, comfort, and pace belong to the animal.

Who chooses this

Who reaches out to Walking Realms?

Caregivers arrive for many reasons, and curiosity alone is a perfectly good one.

  • Someone who senses a shift in their animal and wants a calmer way to look at it
  • A barn or herd owner navigating new arrivals, departures, or seasonal change
  • A rider seeking quieter, more connected time with a horse outside of training
  • A caregiver supporting an animal through recovery, rest, or a long transition
  • Someone curious about Animal Reiki and energy work for the first time
  • A coach or lead rider wanting grounded wellness support at a show or clinic
  • A family with a senior animal who wants presence and gentleness in their days
  • Someone who wants to understand their animal by understanding themselves

Walking Realms does not diagnose, treat, or address medical or behavioural conditions in animals. Anything new, severe, worsening, or urgent belongs with a veterinarian first.

What to expect

Respect for the animal, comfort for the person.

Whatever the offering, a few commitments hold steady.

The animal consents

No animal is held, cornered, or pressured into a session. Turning away is a valid answer and is always honoured.

Your knowledge counts

You know your animal better than anyone. Sessions are a conversation between your daily observations and what I notice.

A calm atmosphere

Visits are unhurried and quiet. Voices stay low, movement stays slow, and the ordinary rhythm of the barn or home is respected.

Nothing is diagnosed

Reflections are offered as reflections. You are always encouraged to bring physical concerns to your veterinarian.

Individual by nature

A herd visit, a dog session, and an event day look nothing alike. Each is built around who is present.

Discretion

What happens at your barn or in your home stays private unless you specifically ask to share it.

Common questions

Questions caregivers ask about Animal Reiki.

If your question is not here, you are welcome to call or send a message before you book.

Not at all. Animals are free to move, graze, rest, or step away during a session. Nothing is asked of them, so there is nothing they can do wrong.

You are welcome to stay and most caregivers do, since the conversation is part of the value. Dress for the weather and the footing at your barn or property. Layers and boots are usually the right call.

Mostly it looks like quiet. I sit or stand near the animal with a soft focus, sometimes with hands resting lightly, often not touching at all. Animals frequently yawn, lick and chew, lower the head, or lie down as the session settles.

Most visits run around an hour, including time to talk before and after. Herd and event work can take longer because more animals and more people are involved. Travel in the Tillsonburg, Oxford County, and Elgin County area is arranged when you book.

Yes. Many visits blend energy work with an aura image, herd insight, or energetic biomechanics observation. Animal communication with Lisa Burwell can be coordinated alongside a Walking Realms visit where it makes sense.

No. Walking Realms is a wellness and relationship offering with no religious affiliation. Your own beliefs are respected and nothing is asked of you spiritually.

No, and it is not intended to. Walking Realms works alongside your professional team. Anything new, severe, worsening, or urgent should go to your veterinarian first.

If you are curious, if something feels unsettled, or if you simply want quieter and more connected time with your animal, it is worth a conversation. Call or send a short message describing what you are noticing and we can talk about which offering fits.

Within Somatic Tones Wellness

How Walking Realms sits within Somatic Tones Wellness.

Somatic Tones Wellness holds two complementary offerings. Walking Realms is the animal centred work, from Animal Reiki and herd insight to event wellness support. Somatic Wellness is the offering for people, built around Reiki, sound healing, guided relaxation, and spiritual reflection.

Many caregivers begin with their animal and later book something for themselves, because the two are so closely linked. Others take a session for themselves first and bring the same quiet back to the barn. You may choose one service alone or combine several over time.

Wellness Services are entirely separate from Somatic Tones Clinical Services, which are provided by Natalie Daniel, RSSW, Psychotherapist.

Book a visit, or ask about your animal first.

If you know which offering you are looking for, you can book directly. If you would rather describe what is happening with your animal and hear whether Walking Realms is a good fit, call or send a short message. There is no pressure to book.

Examples of the work

What working together can look like.

Real moments from sessions with horses, dogs, and the people who love them. Every animal sets the pace, and every session is shaped around what feels safe and welcome to them.

In practice

Energy work with the horses.

Quiet moments from sessions at the barn. Each horse sets the pace, and the work unfolds through presence, breath, and gentle attunement.

Reiki with pets

A dog receiving energy movement.

Reiki is not only for horses. Dogs, cats, and other companion animals often welcome this quiet, non intrusive support at home, on their own terms, in a space they already trust.

Herd support

A mare clearing energy for her field mates.

Horses often carry more than their own experience. In this moment a mare moves energy through her body on behalf of her herd, a quiet reminder of how connected they are to one another.

Recovery support

Two horses working with me to move an injury.

A gentle session with two horses supporting one another as we work to move stuck energy around an injury the brown horse was carrying. Recovery held between horse, herd, and human.

Aura image

A shared field of relational energy.

Aura images offer a visual, reflective way to notice the energy surrounding an animal, a caregiver, and the relationship between them. Captured at the barn with Natalie, Lisa Burwell, and Linda Plank.

Heart Horse Connections

Honouring the horses who carried our hearts.

When a heart horse transitions, the loss is deeply felt. Together we hold space for the bond, the memories, and the grief that lives alongside the love.

Aura and energy images are offered for reflection, relationship, and personal insight. They are not presented as diagnosis, treatment, or factual certainty.

Collaborative partner

Meet Lisa Burwell, Animal Communicator.

Lisa Burwell is a longtime community service worker, animal communicator, and advocate whose care for people and animals runs deep. She brings decades of experience with youth and the changing needs of our society, and a heart for the quiet work of healing that happens between species.

Lisa is a supporter of The Sprucehaven Family Wellness Project and holds a keen interest in programs that meet marginalized youth and their families with dignity. She believes this unique, life changing approach will become a benchmark for the way we serve young people and the families who love them.

She has been fortunate to take part in workshops that draw on the healing power of horses and their remarkable ability to reach people who have not otherwise been able to trust or experience healing in the places where they carry pain.

Lisa's network of resources reflects a lifetime of advocacy. She co-created the global online umatter.ca network, has served families as a Personal Support Worker, and has created and hosted several large community events that have raised tens of thousands of dollars for local youth mental health organizations.

As both a community service worker and animal communicator, Lisa has offered healing, support, and wisdom that has brought lasting change to the people and animals in her care. Among her many businesses, the animal centered ones remain the most meaningful to her, and she is also the founder of Pupcakes, a small business creating organic pet treats made with love.

Animal communication consultations within Walking Realms are provided by Lisa Burwell and may be coordinated alongside sessions with Natalie where appropriate.
