Energetic Biomechanics for the horse, and for the human.

More physio is not always the answer. Sometimes the muscle simply is not getting the signal, and with a horse and rider that signal runs through two bodies, not one. Energy informed movement support for stiffness, tension, nervous system regulation, and the balance you share in the saddle, in Tillsonburg and Southwestern Ontario.

Where this began

A room full of professionals, looking for the missing ingredient.

Back in 2019, I found myself sitting in a room full of professionals, all of us gathered to learn what the missing ingredient in our practices might be.

Learning Joel Crandall's VOILA method completely opened our eyes as we saw people transform right in front of us, often without us even having to place our hands on them.

We witnessed the magic of muscles instantly firing simply by being reconnected to the right energy source.

While every single professional modality has its place, we all saw how vital it is to make room for the energetic side of our biomechanics. It lands somewhere in the space between physio, chiro, osteo, massage, and craniosacral work. In many ways, it feels like a lost practice through time.

Observe the energy flow. Energy work in motion as the body releases and reconnects.
For the human and the horse

One woven web, running through two bodies.

This work is for you as much as it is for your horse. The energetic biomechanics of a horse and rider are not two separate systems. They are one woven web, passed back and forth through the seat, the reins, the lead rope, and the breath. A change anywhere in the web travels through both of you.

The human side of the web

Your seat, your shoulders, your breath, the old injury you compensate around. Riders carry patterns too, and horses carry them right back. When the human side of the web restores, the horse often rebalances without anyone laying a hand on them.

The horse side of the web

The poll, the jaw, the hindquarter that will not engage, the girthiness, the bend that only exists on one rein. Your horse receives your energy through saddle and lead rope and answers with their whole body. Supporting their side of the web changes what you feel in the saddle.

The simplest way I can explain it

Nobody ever looks at the batteries.

The train runs well

Think of a battery operated toy train. When it is running perfectly, the wheels roll effortlessly and it glides down the track. We see the ease and the right movements, but nobody actually sees the batteries.

The train slows down

When the train stops moving optimally, just like our bodies sometimes do, our first instinct is to manually push the wheels or try to grease up the tracks with specific exercises.

The question nobody asks

But what if we checked the energy flowing instead? What if we looked to see that the body was actually getting the right amount of battery power delivered exactly when and where it needed it?

What if each time you got in the saddle things flowed, muscles fired easily with little thought, and your posture was held in a more effortless way? Could it be as simple as adding energetic biomechanics?

What this helps with

Four places this work tends to land.

Remember, when we change a dropped shoulder or engage a muscle, our weight shifts and our horses balance out accordingly. Sometimes corrections are that simple for a horse and rider dynamic duo.

Horse and rider balancing

A collapsed side, a hip that will not release, a horse forever falling in on one rein. We look at the pair as one system rather than two separate problems.

Stiffness

Areas that stay tight no matter how much stretching, hacking, or hands on work they receive. Often the signal, not the tissue, is what is missing.

Nervous system regulation

Bracing, guarding, spookiness, held breath, a body that cannot quite drop into rest. This work meets the nervous system rather than overriding it.

Tension

Jaw, poll, shoulders, lower back. The places where both horses and riders quietly store everything they have been carrying.

If you found this page searching

Biomechanics, acupressure, Masterson Method, equine bodywork.

People arrive here looking for many different names for a similar instinct: that the body responds to invitation rather than force. Acupressure, Masterson Method style release, craniosacral work, equine massage, and energy work all share that listening quality. Energetic biomechanics belongs in that family, with its attention placed on the energetic pulse behind the muscle, the heartbeat that lets it fire in the first place.

This is not a replacement for your vet, your physiotherapist, your chiropractor, your massage therapist, or your coach. It is the layer that often helps their work hold longer.

What to expect

Quiet, unhurried, and led by the response in front of me.

  1. 1

    We talk first

What feels stuck, sore, one sided, or unreliable. What you have already tried and what your vet or practitioner has said.

  2. 2

    We observe

Movement in hand, in the saddle, or simply standing. Where is the body compensating and what is it protecting?

  3. 3

    We restore the connection

Light touch or no touch at all, working with the energetic supply to the areas that are not responding.

  4. 4

    We watch what changes

Horses often yawn, lick, chew, soften, or shift their weight. Riders often find a breath they had not been taking.

  5. 5

    We plan what is next

Sometimes one session is enough. Sometimes a short series alongside your existing team makes more sense.

Common questions

Energetic biomechanics FAQs.

Energetic biomechanics looks at the energy behind movement rather than only the muscle itself. Instead of pushing a muscle to work harder, we check whether it is actually receiving the signal it needs to switch on. When that connection is restored, muscles often fire more easily, posture settles, and movement feels less effortful. And because a horse and rider share one energetic web, we always look at both bodies, not only the one who seems to be having the problem.

Those professions work skillfully with tissue, joints, and structure. Energetic biomechanics sits in the space between them. It does not replace any of them. It asks a different question: is the energy supply reaching this area at the right time and in the right amount? Many people find it helps their other therapies hold longer.

It shares the same gentle, response led spirit. Masterson Method style release, acupressure, and equine bodywork all listen to the horse and invite release rather than force it. Energetic biomechanics works with that same listening, with the focus placed on the energetic connection that lets a muscle respond in the first place. People searching for any of these approaches usually recognize the feeling of this work immediately.

In 2019 Natalie trained in Joel Crandall's VOILA method alongside a room of professionals from many disciplines. Watching people change, often without hands on contact, made clear how much the energetic side of biomechanics had been left out of conventional practice. That training shapes this offering, alongside Reiki, somatic awareness, and years of work with horses and riders.

We begin with a conversation about what feels stuck, sore, one sided, or unreliable. From there the work is quiet and unhurried. For riders it may involve light touch or no touch at all. For horses it happens at liberty or on a loose lead, with the horse free to move away and come back. Sessions usually run sixty to ninety minutes.

Often, yes. A dropped shoulder, a collapsed side, or a hip that will not release changes where your weight sits, and your horse compensates underneath you. Because the energetic web runs through both of you, when the rider's pattern shifts, the horse frequently rebalances without anyone asking them to. This is why sessions are offered for the pair rather than only one half of it.

Both, and often in the same session. Some riders book for themselves alone, some horses arrive without their human, and many sessions move back and forth between the two. The energetic web runs through both systems, so the work follows wherever the web asks for attention.

Those are the most common reasons people reach out. Chronic stiffness, bracing, guarding after an injury, a horse who is cold backed or reactive to the girth, a rider who cannot take a full breath in the saddle. Energetic work meets the nervous system rather than overriding it, which is why it often feels settling rather than stirring.
